Our Curriculum

Christ the King Primary School is committed to meeting the requirements of the primary curriculum from September 2014.

Our Mission Statement tells us that Christ the King Roman Catholic Primary School believes in providing an education through a curriculum that caters for all pupils. Therefore it is our aim to ensure that the school meets the needs of all children, taking account of gender, ethnicity, culture, language, sexual orientation, age, ability, disability and social circumstances. We believe that the whole process of education, teaching and learning is a Holy Act – we are involved in God’s work. Religious growth and development lie at the heart of our work. It is a life-long process: we are one part of the journey. It is a community process: we grow through our relationships with others.
Our curriculum will be exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for learning. The school, whilst delivering the statutory content of the National Curriculum, plans a thematic approach to learning and many of the topics change regularly to excite and stimulate the children. A skills-based approach is followed to ensure that children are equipped with core learning skills to enable them to make progress with their learning as they move through the school.

There are opportunities for children to share their work with the whole school community through project displays, these displays occur termly and are on display in the school hall.

Children’s work in exercise books is available for viewing throughout the year. They will also be available for viewing at each parent/teacher meeting and will be sent home at the end of the academic year. The school will hold a selection of books from each subject for the autumn term, parents will be notified if their child’s books are being held.
